According to Tejarat News, the import of cars was started after about six years. The implementation of the import regulation was accompanied by many ups and downs and finally it started with the arrival of 22 cars. Now that it is said that the shipments of imported cars are on their way to Iran one after another, it seems that some governmental and non-governmental organizations are seeking to gain profit and share in the flow of car imports.
In this context, Seyyed Jafar Tashri Hashemi, head of the Civil and Transportation Commission of Tehran Islamic Council, in a conversation with Tasnim He said: Our demand from the government is to provide Tehran municipality with a number of imported cars that are entering the country in the form of taxis.
He explained: The conversion of a number of imported cars into taxis is an issue that has been raised through the council so that the mayor will also follow up on this issue and a share of car imports will be allocated to taxis in Tehran.
In the meantime, the question is raised whether a part of the car import share has been allocated as city taxis or not?
Omid Qalibaf, the spokesman of the Ministry of Security, said in a conversation with Tejarat News: “Such a thing has not been raised in the Ministry of Security.”
He continued: In order to allocate a part of the car import share to city taxis, a quota should be considered for it first and a car suitable for public transportation should be imported into the country.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Security explained: With the current regulation of car importation, it is not possible to import taxis and public transport vehicles. The import of such cars has requirements that must be notified to the Ministry of Security in order to be implemented.
The entry of institutions into the import of cars
According to Qalibaf and Takshiri Hashemi, it seems that in the next round of car import and rewriting of the import regulations, other institutions of the country will also import cars.
Not long ago, the head of the Shahid Foundation said on the sidelines of the government meeting: “Fortunately, it was decided that 70% of the cars imported for the veterans will be provided.” According to Article 45 of the comprehensive law of veterans, facilities are provided for the purchase of a domestic car for free veterans who are subject to it.
It should be noted that there were only two entities that announced their intention to import cars specific to their entities, and other entities may do so after full liberalization.
Of course, before this, news was heard about the entry of foreign cars into the country by some institutions, and these institutions may also start working with the complete liberalization of the car.
It was last year’s February that ads for the sale of Toyota Hilux cars in 2021 and 2022 models were seen in large numbers on car buying and selling sites. The sellers of these cars claimed that they can sell up to 50 Toyotas and there is no legal problem. But they were silent in response to the question of how to import these cars.
In this regard, experts said that a series of Toyota Hilux cars have entered the country and are ready for sale only under the condition of being used by institutions, bodies and government organizations. The import of these cars was legal and there was no problem.
