Wilmots’s role in the Football Federation’s unapproved financial statements

According to the Mehr reporter, the assembly of the Football Federation was held last Tuesday while the financial statements of this federation since 2009 were not approved. This issue was mentioned by some members of the assembly, but it was finally decided to consider it in the general assembly after the elections of the Football Federation.

Bahram Rezaian, a member of the board of directors of the Football Federation, regarding the non-transparent financial statements in the federation, said: “The members of the assembly had some objections.” The financial statements have been discussed many times in the Board of Directors.

He continued: These financial statements have been rejected by the independent auditor since 2009. The reason is the amount of the Wilmots contract that is included in the financial statements. Because it is a large amount, the federation has been declared a “loser”.

The former member of the board of directors of the federation stated: The former members of the board of directors have the right discussion and say that the Wilmots discussion is not clear yet. On the other hand, we also have demands in FIFA. We should see it in the financial statements when it is finalized.

According to the Mehr reporter, Mark Wilmots was selected as the head coach of the Iranian national team in 2009 to lead the team instead of “Carlos Kirosh”. However, Wilmots’s working life in the national team did not reach 6 months. Despite receiving 2 million euros, the coach sued FIFA for 6 million euros. Iran, after being condemned by FIFA, took the Wilmots case to the Supreme Court of Sport (CAS), which has not yet ruled on the case after several years.
