Workers’ representative in the Labor Council: Determining the livelihood basket of the working family is waiting for the Bahman inflation rate

Mohammad Reza Tajik, in an interview with Fars news agency’s economic reporter, in response to the question whether the meeting of the Supreme Labor Council was held in February? He stated: This meeting has not been held yet and we are waiting for the determination of the livelihood basket of the working family. Two meetings of the specialized wage committee have been held so far, and the third meeting will be held today, Tuesday.
He added: In order to determine the minimum wage for workers in the coming year, two components of the inflation rate this year and the average livelihood basket of a working household are taken into consideration, and based on these two components, representatives of workers, employers and the government negotiate in the Supreme Labor Council and finally reach the minimum figure. The wages of the workers for the next year will arrive.
The representative of the workers in the Supreme Labor Council stated: It has been decided that in the wage committee under the Supreme Labor Council, the cost of living of an ordinary worker’s household should be calculated, and the most important items of this living basket are food and non-food items; In this context, representatives from the Institute of Nutrition of the Iranian Statistics Center, the Vice-Chancellor of Welfare and the Center for Social Security Research have presented reports, and two meetings have been held so far, but we have not reached a conclusion yet to determine the livelihood basket of the working family.
Tajik said about how much the inflation rate is possible in determining the minimum wage in addition to the livelihood basket: According to Note 1 of Article 41 of the Labor Law, the inflation rate and according to Note 2 the livelihood basket of the working household are both the main criteria for deciding to determine the minimum wage for workers. It is considered and we are waiting Statistical Center of Iran to announce the annual inflation rate ending at the end of February this year, which in fact, the inflation rate of December and February will be a clear criterion for inflation this year. Because as we reach the last days of the year, we can get a more real rate of inflation.
He also said about why the cost of a worker’s household basket is used as a criterion for the minimum wage and how it relates to the employer. Any number given by the employer as the minimum wage is counted in the finished price of his product and the share of wages is calculated in the price of goods and materials sold.
The workers’ representative in the Supreme Labor Council stated that we have 14.5 million insurance payers, both workers and retirees, and stated: Anyway, the purchasing power of this large insured community is very important and they can help the cycle of production and goods. If there is no demand for the final products of factories and entrepreneurs, production will be practically useless, and the working family must receive a wage to be able to demand the goods they need in order to have the power of demand. In fact, this cycle of purchasing power of the working family is related to the ability to prepare a livelihood basket.
Tajik added: In the labor law, the legislator has considered both the economic and the social aspects, and we must find an optimal point from the economic point of view, which does not put pressure on the employer and the producer, and on the other hand, the purchasing power of the working family and To maintain the society of workers who are effective applicants in the economy.
He reminded: On the other hand, the government should take action based on Article 43 of the Constitution in terms of providing insurance and housing for working families and strengthen the purchasing power of workers.
The representative of the workers in the Supreme Labor Council expressed hope that as the end of the year approaches, the minimum wage of the workers will be determined as soon as possible in a tripartite negotiation process between the representatives of the workers, the employer and the government at an optimal point so that there is no disruption to production and purchasing power. To preserve the labor society.
