World Ice Champion: We go to war against opponents who are armed to the teeth / We only had 10 days of training

According to the sports correspondent of Fars News Agency, Mohammad Reza Safdarian said about his championship in the World Ice Skating Championship: “We are going to fight opponents who are armed to the teeth.” If a medal or success is achieved, it is with the good prayers of the people and our own zeal that we can overcome these conditions. Iran has participated in the World Cup for 9 years and won gold in 2018, but so far we have not won gold in the World Cup.

He continued: “During these three days we were in Switzerland, the conditions were very difficult and Mohsen Beheshti’s gold in speed was a rare event that fell for the first time.” In the matter of speed, the Russians do not allow anyone to get close to the gold medal at all, but Mohsen Beheshti did a great job in this competition.

The world ice skating champion said about why we do not have ice walls despite the cold regions in Iran: “So far, the athletes have shown their abilities and we have not won many medals in these years, but from now on, the Ministry of Sports and The National Olympic Committee has a special look. We only practiced in Russia for 10 days in those two years. Russia is our serious rival and they are not happy that we train in their country and stand against them.

Safdarian emphasized: “Our ice skating has a lot of potential and we can win medals in all categories, both men and women.” The Mountaineering and Climbing Federation has been supporting us all these years, but we also expect help from the Ministry of Sports. Let me also say that we have not even received the awards of 1997 and 1998 yet. I hope good things happen from now on.
