Making a kit to diagnose infectious diseases in Iran for the first time

According to Fars News Agency’s health correspondent, the first manufacturer of corona kits in the country succeeded in producing a molecular diagnosis kit for HPV (human papilloma, the most common sexually transmitted infection in humans), hepatitis B and C, and mycobacterium (the cause of tuberculosis).

For the first time in the country, Rojeh Technology after producing Corona kits has now succeeded in designing and producing kits for diagnosing various infectious diseases such as hepatitis B and C virus, HPV virus (the main cause of genital warts) to meet the needs of the diagnostic and research community. And cervical cancer in women) and Mycobacterium (the cause of tuberculosis) were treated with high accuracy and quality.

Mohammad Baqer Mahmoudi, CEO of Rojeh Technology, a manufacturer of molecular diagnostic kits, said: “One of Iran’s concerns now is the production of Iranian kits and the need for imports.”

Mahmoudi explained: “We are the first company to obtain a license for simultaneous diagnostic kits of Covid and influenza A, B from the Ministry of Health, and now we have formally designed the HPV, HIV and HBV virus kits, which currently have two kits, HPV and HBV.” It is ready for production and after obtaining a license from the Ministry of Health, it is ready to enter the laboratory.

Referring to the history of this company, Mahmoudi added: This production group was established in 2014 and as a knowledge-based and student company, started production by producing a product (DNA extraction kit).

He noted: The quality of this product was so high that it eventually led us to test the same product in medical diagnostic centers. In the first year, we sent four samples of kits to the center, which were welcomed by all centers in terms of quality and price compared to foreign counterparts, and in 1997, more reputable centers used our products, until 1998, we became known as a stable and strong brand.

Hassan Nourbazargan, the head of the company’s research and development department, said: “Now the production volume of HPV and other infectious diseases diagnostic kits has reached a massive stage, while this virus is known as an internal and global problem.”

He added: “This production group is trying to make accurate molecular tests available to everyone in the country by producing these kits in large volumes;” Of course, government support for assigning government currency to import kits, as well as laboratory cooperation, play an important role.

The head of the research and development department explained about the price of HPV kits and said: “Our product is both in terms of quality and price competitive with imported kits in the world, which is evidenced by additional tests of these products in high quality laboratory centers.” Is.

Noor Bazargan said: “We hope that the laboratories will cooperate with us to fight against this virus, because their opinion will increase the quality and variety of our products.”

Mehdi Norouzi, a professor at Tehran University of Medical Sciences and a virologist, said: “The problem of HPV has increased in society; So that some of the responsible organizations have entered into this field based on the emergence of divorces for this reason and have asked virologists about the cause of the spread of this virus and the mode of transmission that is of concern to families and individuals.

He said: “Some of these kits are supplied from foreign countries, and we hope to prevent the spread of this virus, which has led to an increase in divorce and family problems in the country, by making faster and more accurate diagnostic kits in knowledge-based and elite companies in this field.”

Nowruzi stated: ‌ With these conditions, it is predicted that Iran, which until recently provided the prerequisite in full by importing these products from other countries, will now eliminate the need to import these diagnostic products by producing the kits of this knowledge-based company.

The professor of virology added: “In 1998, at the same time as the Covid pandemic, when the workload was high and all countries had depoted corona kits for themselves, we were ready to produce kits and received the first license to produce kits at the same time as the corona virus spread.” we did.
