The world registration document for Afshar Takab hand-woven carpets in the south of West Azerbaijan was unveiled last Thursday in the presence of the head of the National Carpet Center of Iran and a group of provincial and local officials and activists in this field.

The geographical area of ​​Afshar Takab handmade carpet has been registered in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) under number 1148 according to the Lisbon Treaty.

Of the 72,000 carpet weavers in West Azerbaijan Province, more than 8,000 live in the city of Takab and its villages.

The Khoy micro-fish carpet in the north of West Azerbaijan had also been registered in the world in recent years, and now the Afshar Takab hand-woven carpet has been awarded the world registration certificate under the Lisbon Treaty.
