Zelensky: The war in Ukraine should end with the liberation of Crimea

According to the report of Fars News Agency, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for the “liberation of Crimea” in new statements.
According to “BBC”, he was commenting after a series of explosions at the Russian air base in Crimea, without referring to the explosions on Tuesday (August 9), he said: “We will not forget that Russia’s war against Ukraine began with the occupation of Crimea.” This Russian war… started with Crimea and must end with Crimea – with its freedom. Crimea is Ukrainian and we will never give it up.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said it had announced that ammunition had exploded at the base, while Ukraine denied any responsibility.
Crimea is internationally recognized as part of Ukraine, but the Black Sea peninsula was annexed by Russia in 2014 following a referendum.
According to the BBC, Russia will take any attack on Crimea by Ukraine very seriously, and last month Dmitry Medvedev, the former president of Russia, warned in this regard.
According to the report, Zelensky’s latest comments suggest he believes Ukraine should retake Crimea before the end of the war — but he has had mixed opinions on the matter in the past. He previously said that Kiev could accept peace if Russia returned to its positions before February 24 (the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine), meaning that the recapture of Crimea could be the subject of further negotiations.
