“Zero Border” narrative of the challenges of illegal immigration

According to Fars news agency, the documentary series “Safar Marzi” produced and directed by Majid Azizi, a new production of Documentary Network, will air in 18 episodes of 25 minutes on Documentary Network. About this documentary, Azizi said: “Zero Marzi” is the narrative of the journey full of stories of those who chose the hard and illegal way to emigrate. In each part of the documentary, we accompany people who are in different places of this path.

He added: This series was filmed in 8 European countries, Africa and Indonesia, and its production process lasted for 4 years. In “Zero Marzi”, we talked with illegal immigrants about their travel experience and the challenges facing this choice.

Pointing to the challenges of producing this documentary, this producer said: the issue of illegal immigration is kind of underground, that’s why it was very difficult to find a subject and gain trust for a conversation, on the other hand, obtaining filming permits in other countries became a serious problem for us, many countries are reluctant. They didn’t want to do anything about this issue, even sometimes we had to record the necessary images as citizen journalists with mobile phones.

Azizi said about a concern for the production of this documentary series: I have made documentaries in 30 countries and along the way I got to know about issues related to illegal immigrants. To produce, I chose immigration among the proposed topics, which was also my concern.

The director said: In “Zero Marzi”, we talked with immigrants from different cities of Iran with different age groups about their personal experiences of immigration, for example, immigrants who are in African prisons due to using fake passports, or a group that was stopped in Indonesia and They planned to reach Australia by boat. Inside the country, we also spoke with those who stopped emigrating on the way, as well as the families of those who lost their lives. We contacted local and informed journalists, we talked to smugglers, we tried to consider all aspects in dealing with this issue, to show the way and well so that those who are concerned about illegal immigration know what path they are walking on.

This series is aired on Tuesdays at 22:30 on the Documentary Network and is repeated the next day at 10:30.
