According to IRNA, Zohra Elahian, the representative of the people of Tehran and the head of the human rights committee of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Council, who traveled to New York with Kazem Gharibabadi, the deputy for international affairs of the judiciary and the secretary of the human rights staff, in an interview with Iranian journalists added about their trip: The purpose of this trip was to interact with international and human rights organizations and consult with countries.
This representative of the Islamic Council added: We had a meeting with the members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Friends of the United Nations Charter, as well as bilateral meetings with different countries and also the head of Ekosuk.
The head of the Human Rights Committee of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Islamic Council said: “The message of the oppression of the Iranian nation was announced to the representatives of different countries and that the Iranian nation was attacked by terrorist groups with the support of the intelligence services in recent incidents, and in fact, unfortunately, nowhere There is no mention of the oppression of the Iranian nation in human rights forums.
Referring to the American efforts to cancel Iran’s membership of the Commission on the Status of Women, Elahian said: In a meeting with groups including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, explanations and a report were presented about some progress of Iranian women in various fields of health, education, sports, scientific and study activities. which was noticed.
The head of the Human Rights Committee of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Council added: We told some officials that they should see the Iranian women’s society and the realities of the Islamic Republic of Iran closely so that they can follow the path that Iranian women have taken in the last 40 years. Elahian emphasized: Countries should not observe the realities of Iran through the media, but there are facts that can be very telling that Iranian women have reached a level of authority and capability that they are influential in the basic affairs of the country today.
This member of the Islamic Council clarified: The approach of some countries is not from the perspective of human rights and women’s rights, but from the perspective of political purposes, through which they use human rights as their own tools.
Elahian also addressed the reports that were presented in these meetings about the status of women in Iranian society and said that according to the latest statistics, 33% of Iranian university faculty members are women and 99.3% of Iranian women and girls are literate.
Stating that the life expectancy index of women in Iran has reached 78 years, he added: 70% of health workers, 40% of specialist doctors and 30% of subspecialist doctors in Iran are women.
The head of the Human Rights Committee of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Council added: 4,200 rural credit funds have been established for women, and more than 2,000 women are members of the board of directors of knowledge-based companies.
He also mentioned the presence of women in the fields of filmmaking and cinema and said: 128 international awards and 114 national awards have been given to female filmmakers.
Elahian also mentioned the presence of women in sports fields and added: 3,300 medals have been won by female athletes in world events.
According to him, there are 51 women as presidents and vice presidents of sports federations, and women are present in 97 international seats in world sports federations.
Elahian also pointed to the presence of 25% of women in the country’s government administrations at the high, middle and basic levels and said that as an example, more than a thousand female judges are active in Iran.
The head of the Human Rights Committee of the Islamic Council also addressed the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran to women affected by climate crises and added: Today, the powerful and intelligent women of Iran are playing their role in the progress of Islamic Iran in all fields, and the path of excellence and progress is ahead.
