137 million trips, bringing the first 3 days of the Spring Festival holiday in China

According to Aria Heritage, people’s travel to China’s national holidays has increased since Wednesday, the third day of the spring festival’s one-week holiday season. The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring or Lunar New Year, is the largest holiday in China with a seven-day holiday. In 2022, the Chinese New Year Festival is held on February 1, and according to the Chinese calendar, it is the year of the tiger. This calendar has a twelve-year cycle that is displayed each year with a specific animal. People born in the tiger years, including 1938.1950, 1962.1974, 1986.1998 and 2010, will experience their zodiac year (Ben Ming Nyan).
According to the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, about 137 million domestic tourists traveled across the country in the first three days of the holiday, which generated 167 billion yuan ($ 26 billion) in tourism revenue.
According to the ministry, the number of tourist trips in 2019 has improved by more than 70% compared to the pre-epidemic level of Covid-19.
Short-term tourist trips, visits to the city of birth and trips to the suburbs are the largest volume of trips. As the holiday coincides with the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, ice and snow travel has become more popular and attractive.
Additional trains were provided in many areas to meet transport demand. Some New Year’s carriages are decorated with festive decorations, and special services such as intangible cultural heritage products, local food and quality handicrafts are provided at some service stations.
In addition, strict measures are taken to prevent and control COVID-19 for travel. Passengers are required to wear a mask, provide a hygienic QR code and check their body temperature before departure. Contactless services are also available to create a safe travel environment for travelers.
