In Erbil, Gharibabadi met with the head of the judicial council and the interior minister of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and while visiting two prisons, he also had a close conversation with a number of Iranian prisoners with the aim of following up on their problems.
The secretary of the human rights headquarters also met with the head of the government human rights organization of the region and was closely informed about the activities of this organization.
During this trip, it was decided that within the framework of Iran-Iraq agreements, while strengthening and improving the process of transferring convicts and extraditing criminals, a judicial working group should also be formed to identify the legal and judicial problems of the parties and explain appropriate solutions.
It is noted that 14 Iranian convicts from the prisons of the Iraqi Kurdistan region will also be transferred to Iran in the near future through the relevant process.
