2 “IDFA” awards went to Iranian documentary cinema



The 34th Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA) announced the winners of its various categories.

Theater News Base: In this event, which is known as the most prestigious documentary film festival in the world, the film “Water, Wind, Soil, Bread” by Mehdi Zamanpour Kiasari received a special award from the jury of the Children and Youth Documentary Section and “Face Painter” by Jafar Najafi. He won the Pfeiffer Prize (International Association of Film Critics) along with a cash prize of € 5,000.

This year, the award for Best Feature Documentary in the IDFA Main Competition went to “Mr. Landsbergis” by Sergei Luznitsa, a joint production of Lithuania and the Netherlands, and the award for Best Director went to “Children of the Fog” by Dim Ha Lu from Vietnam.

The documentary “I Try Not to Forget” by Pegah Ahangrani in its first world screening in the short documentary section of the IDFA Festival, the documentary “Homework” by Abbas Kiarostami in the section “Focus: Future Time” and the documentary “Homework” co-produced by Ashkan Nejati And Mehran Nematollahi, present in the “Luminous” section, were also the representatives of Iranian cinema in this cinematic event.
