According to Mehr reporter, the novel “Sharq Behesht” is one of the brilliant works of Nobel Prize-winning American writer John Steinbeck, which narrates the complicated life of two families. A film adaptation of this novel was made and broadcast in 1955, directed by Elia Kazan and starring James Dean.

In the middle of the 90s, a remarkable radio adaptation of this novel was made in the “From Novel to Play” project and was produced and broadcast in the form of a radio show under the direction of Ayub Aghakhani, a well-known radio and theater artist.

Such an approach to Western literature and such a faithful adaptation of “Sharq Behesht” was indebted to the ancient tradition of radio shows, that is, connecting the audience with the gems of world literature.
