A Different Look at a Ritual Ceremony in the Documentary “Barakat”

According to a Fars News Agency radio and television correspondent, the documentary “Barakat” directed by Iraj Saadi is in the competition section of the 5th Documentary Television Festival and will be broadcast tonight on the Sima Documentary Network.
He told Fars about the subject of this documentary: “Barakat” narrates the ritual of cooking semno in one of the villages of Hamedan called Ashtran, a ceremony that is linked to a spiritual ritual, and finally part of this semno among the pilgrims of Karbala who They cross this area, it is distributed as a vow.
He added: In this ceremony, which is held every year in Hamedan province, a group of women from the village gather together and perform semnopzi in a ritual ceremony. As you know, Hamedan is on the way of a number of pilgrims to Karbala, and a group of people who go for the Arbaeen procession are welcomed with the same semno on this way.
Regarding the naming of this film, Saadi said: “As you know, semno is made from wheat and the name of wheat is mentioned 11 times in the Holy Quran.” That’s why we named the documentary “Barakat”.
He explained about the type of narration of the film: In this documentary, we see 3 groups of women, the first group is 8-9 year old girls who are shown playing, they are the future women of the villages. The second group is young girls who are gaining experience from their elders and will be responsible for cooking semno in the future. The third group is experienced women who are now in charge of cooking semno.
The director of the documentary “Barakat” noted: “We filmed this 27-minute documentary last year and now it is participating in the fifth documentary television festival.”
