Alice Monroe won the 2013 Nobel Prize in Literature, and the Swedish Academy named her “Master of Contemporary Short Story”. Monroe was the first author to win the Nobel Prize in Literature as a short story writer. Of course, in addition to the Nobel Prize, Alice Monroe has won many awards, including two prestigious Giller Prizes from the Canadian Literary Prize and three awards from the Governor General of Canada.
He has won the Trillium Award twice and has been selected once as the winner of the American National Book Critics Circle Award. The Man Booker International Prize is one of the awards he has in his repertoire.
Another well-known Canadian writer, Margaret Atwood, has described Alice Monroe as an “international saint in the field of literature,” and critics and writers have praised her simple, unpretentious style, multi-layered plot, simple characters, and beautiful dialogue.
