In a conversation with Mehr reporter, Abdolreza Saif said about the status of holding educational classes in the faculty of literature in light of recent events: contrary to some bad propaganda by foreign media, thank God Tehran University and the faculty of literature these days with the presence of students and professors in the place of scientific interaction and holding specialized classes in the fields of It is different. All educational activities and even side activities are being carried out as in previous years, and the University of Tehran continues the same path that it has taken for decades as a pioneer of science, knowledge and ethics, and I hope that in the continuation of this holy path, day by day May the success of the university and faculty increase day by day.
The head of the faculty of literature and humanities of the faculty of literature of Tehran University also said about the unrest in Tehran University in recent weeks: In my opinion, the university is a place of conflict of ideas and Tehran University has been the first modern university and a symbol of Iran’s universities since its inception. It has played this role well.
He continued: Of course, the University of Tehran, as the leader and vanguard of deep-rooted social movements, has been the site of critical discussions and even protests throughout its proud history. However, these protests have always crossed the boundaries of law and ethics and have been a noble and academic protest and worthy of the students.
The protests of the University of Tehran during the victory of the revolution preserved the boundaries of morality
Saif further clarified: I referred to the history of Tehran University and saw that even during the victory of the Islamic Revolution, when a system supported by the West was collapsing in the hands of the people, protests, gatherings and demonstrations in the University of Tehran always maintained the boundaries of morality and At no point in the history of the university did I hear or read that during the protests students were heard to abuse and profanity.
While pointing out that this environment and this place is sacred because it is the source of people’s trust and confidence, he said: Many people look to see how the students of Tehran University, who are leaders in culture, science and knowledge, They react to a critical category and place it as a symbol of culture; But in recent events, unfortunately, there were a few people among the students who encouraged them to say dirty and inappropriate words, and some students, due to their lack of experience in social fields, imitated these people and polluted the sacred environment of Tehran University with dirty words. which has never happened in the history of this university.
Saif expressed his displeasure at the resounding of Namimoni’s words in the university environment and said: In our culture, cursing is not allowed at any time and place and has no place. Such easy swearing and blasphemy is the characteristic of a trend that started recently with the support of foreigners and, by the grace of God, is declining with the persistence of the educated.
University of Tehran has always been the leader of social developments
The head of Tehran University’s Faculty of Literature and Humanities also said about the way students protest in the university: I don’t expect the university environment to be indifferent to social events. The survival of the university depends on these correct and effective reactions. If you are familiar with the history of Tehran University, you know that this university has always been the leader and pioneer of social developments; But my point is this, the most important characteristic of all these reform and critical movements has always been their emphasis on thinking and independent voting.
Referring to the influence of foreign media in leading the protests, he said: It is very bad that the security of the university predicts any unrest two nights before, and when we ask its officials how they came to this conclusion, they say scandalous foreign networks like “Iran International”. and “BBC” have called for a certain day, and by the way, these predictions also turned out to be true, and on the same day of the call, some students started insulting and insulting the country’s pillars as a protest, and they also expected that no one would tell them about Your eyes are cloudy.
The level of some university students dropped to the level of foreign networks
While saying that these protests have lowered the level of university students to the level of a foreign network and this is intolerable for all those who are sensitive to the university and its prestige, Saif said: Of course, the majority of students are separate from these people and the majority are almost Along with the students of Tehran University and other universities of the country, they are upset and worried about the formation of such an atmosphere and the few of their classmates falling into the abyss of vulgarity.
He further emphasized: My belief is that if someone wants to criticize or even protest a social category in the university environment, he should adhere to the 90-year tradition of the university and express his criticism and protest thoughtfully and thoughtfully and within the framework of ethics and law. My personal belief is that today, with the words we heard from the governor of the province, who attributed the continuation of the recent trend to the padoos of foreigners, the evidence is complete for everyone. If someone has an objection to the implementation processes, he should change his path from those who come to the streets at the behest of the enemies and at their invitation.
The head of the Faculty of Literature of Tehran University stated that it is my personal opinion that in the university it is no longer possible to say that people who start rioting and cursing are critical and protesting students, and noted that criticism and protest have a path that leads to rioting. And chaos is completely separate. Today, the path guided by the enemy is the path of enmity and whoever moves on this path must pay the costs.
Saif also explained about the protests of the Faculty of Literature students against his management and said: I believe that criticism and even protest in executive and union issues is the right of the audience. As a manager, I have the duty to be accountable to all my audience and this accountability must be proven in practice. In the course of the criticisms that were raised, we examined some cases that really had an implementation aspect, and in some cases, necessary measures were taken to solve the problems. Alhamdulillah, this academic year started with honor and even though we are refurbishing the faculty and there are space restrictions in this process, but the cooperation of the students has made the refurbishing work go well for the safety of the students. Classes should be held without interruptions and problems.
He informed about the activation of the student vice president and the good relationship of this vice president with the students and said: The student vice president of the faculty was installed at the same time as the beginning of the academic year and considering that he is one of the famous professors, he has established a very close relationship with the students, which we hope in In the near future, let us see the fruits of this effective communication. Of course, I have never claimed that there are no problems in the college and I am not. In all periods and in all fields, there must have been and still are problems.
The head of the faculty of literature and humanities said: I believe that there is nothing wrong with the unwritten dictation. There is no wide and long educational or even administrative system anywhere in the world that its audience unanimously gives it a score of 20, and this means that there are many and different tastes in the field of performance, and a manager cannot satisfy all tastes completely; However, the duty of the manager of the collection is to create the most opportunities and the least damage, and this has been the effort of my colleague and I during the time that we have undertaken this task.
Saif pointed out that my heart’s belief is that we are one family with the students, professors, and employees of Tehran University, that our family bond as “Tehran University” is unbreakable, and said: Of course, like all families, we may have differences of opinion with each other. that we should express our views and interact with each other in a calm and logical environment. In my opinion, the issues within the University of Tehran family should not be spread outside in any way, and if there are people who film internal criticisms and protests and send them to foreign media, they should be treated as those who challenge the family of Tehran University. .
He also gave explanations about the hijab of students in the university and emphasized on the observance of the law and said: the criterion of our actions and behavior in public and social environments should be the law; Otherwise, as the famous saying goes, “stone on stone will not be closed”. In the category of hijab in public and social environments, the law must be followed and the law does not allow us to “discover the hijab” about women.
The head of the Faculty of Literature and Literary Sciences of Tehran University continued: I request all students to obey the law in this matter as well as in other cases where they themselves demand the implementation of the law to secure their personal interests. In fact, an educated student of Tehran University should know that we cannot have a selective view of the law and where our personal interests are involved, we want to implement the law and where social norms are involved, we should deviate from the law.
He further explained about the faculty’s procedure regarding the absence of some students in the classes and said: We have told the Vice-Chancellor of Education to be more tolerant and cooperative with students within the framework of the regulations and sometimes even beyond that. Of course, this is not true for unexcused absence from class; Because I believe that the inherent duty of a student is to study and no other duty, no matter how important, can take its place. As the teacher’s duty is to attend the class and teach and manage the class. Therefore, if the student is not present in the class and this lack of attendance does not have valid reasons and is frequent, it basically removes the student from the status of being a student.
While stating that a student who comes to the university but does not show up to class, he wastes all the facilities provided by the university with heavy expenses, and this is not an injury that can be ignored or treated with tolerance, he added: In the meeting I had with the new students, I said that attending class is an obligation for every student and that a student who leaves without a valid excuse must be treated according to the regulations. Especially in a university like Tehran University, which is the dream of every young person to be its student, there is no logical and acceptable justification for wasting the opportunity to attend class and grow and advance academically.
At the end, Saif emphasized: Of course, if some people think that because the number of unexcused absentees in a class is more than one or two people and they are not alone, then this issue will not cause a problem for them, this is a completely wrong perception. The application and implementation of laws has never been subject to the number of violators in any society, and it will be the same in the university and literature faculty.
