Adobe offers a free version of Photoshop

Adobe is currently testing the free version of Photoshop with users in Canada, but will likely make it available to a wider audience. Anyone who creates an Adobe account in Canada can now access the free web version of Photoshop.

Photoshop has always been the industry standard for photo editing, but the cost of a monthly license has probably been the main obstacle to using the software. Meanwhile, free or freemium photo editing software such as Pixler, Canova and Photopi have attracted the average user and advanced their capabilities.

According to the Verge website, Adobe is making basic photo editing tools available to users for free to attract users who are not regular users of the company’s software. Adobe hopes that some premium Photoshop users will eventually become paid subscribers, especially as the company plans to offer more advanced features in the web version that will only be available with a subscription.

According to the Angjet website, Adobe launched a web version of Photoshop and Illustrator for subscribers last fall. However, their capabilities were limited to initial editing and sharing of ideas among project partners. The new free web version of Photoshop will significantly expand existing tools, allowing users to start new projects and access advanced color correction and editing tools.
