Afghan Shiite representatives: We do not have any restrictions on Muharram mourning

According to the correspondent of the Afghanistan site of Fars news agency, the commission for organizing the Ashura ceremony, which consists of representatives of the Shiite people, announced that so far no official meeting has been held with the Taliban security officials regarding the type of Ashura celebration, therefore no restrictions have been imposed on the Ashura ceremony at the moment. .

On the eve of Hosseini’s Ashura, some news and rumors about the prohibition of Afghan Shia mourning during Muharram have been published, which are not true.

Therefore, the Ashura ceremony commission added: Any decision that the Taliban takes about the Muharram ceremony, it will inform this commission, but so far no notification has been received on how to celebrate Muharram.

At the same time yesterday, “Zabihullah Mujahid”, the spokesman of the Taliban, said in a press conference: “The security forces are trying to ensure the security of the Muharram ceremony day and night so that the citizens can hold this ceremony in a safe space.”

He added: “The security forces of the Islamic Emirate are developing a plan to ensure the security of Muharram, so that we can witness these days being held without incident in Afghanistan, just like last year.”

Previously, Mohammad Qasim Khaled, the governor of Kabul, said in a meeting with the officials of the relevant organizations to ensure better security during the Muharram days: “It is our responsibility to ensure the security of Afghan Shia citizens.”

Addressing the Taliban security officials, he added: “During the days of Muharram, in order to ensure better security of Shia compatriots, pay attention to their special places and no one should be allowed to harm Shia ceremonies.”

It should be mentioned that since coming to power in the last two years, the Taliban have always tried to ensure the security of Shiites during the days of Ashura. Nevertheless, in 1402 ISIS attacked the Muharram Hosseini mourners, during which 8 people were martyred and 18 others were injured.
