After a year of indecision and contradictory decisions, the Ministry of Security and the government were able to start importing only 220 cars last month.

Now that the government officials and the Ministry of Security could not implement the car import plan completely and without problems, they offered another promise to compensate for the previous inefficiency. After the first-hand cars could not be imported into the Iranian market as promised by the government and the Ministry of Security, the import of second-hand cars up to five years of operation was approved by the Parliament’s Industries and Mines Commission. Although there are whispers about the approval of this plan, this news is still denied by various individuals and institutions.

First, this plan was approved by the Industries and Mines Commission as well as the Consolidation Commission. But it has not yet been approved by other institutions and its implementation is still in a state of uncertainty.

In the meantime, Omid Qalibaf, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Security, announced that for the time being, the import of second-hand and used cars is done from the free zones, and nothing is certain until the budget is approved and we have to wait.

The conflict in the issue of car import did not end there, and the High Secretary of Free Zones in a conversation with Tasnim He also denied Qalibaf’s words. Hojatullah Abdul Maliki said that zero kilometer vehicles enter the country through free zones.

Abdul Maliki stated: The government recently had a 10-point resolution, in the fourth paragraph of which it is stated that for the needs of free and special economic zones for cars, if it needs a resolution, in cooperation with the Ministry of Security and the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Free Zones, a proposal for a resolution should be submitted to the government.

He continued: In this regard, I had a meeting with the Minister of Peace and preliminary agreements were reached to facilitate imports from free zones.

According to the opinion of the spokesperson of the Ministry of Security, we have to wait and see what amount of funds the government allocates definitively for the import of cars. Of course, it should also be noted that at the beginning of the compilation of the car import regulations, the central bank announced that it could not provide the currency required for imports in 1401. But after a while, the page turned and the central bank agreed to this issue.

Now it seems that the Ministry of Security and importing companies are waiting for the finalization of the 1402 budget to determine whether it is more economical to import used or new cars.

Although experts believe that with the import of second-hand cars, the currency of the country will increase and the implementation of this plan is a serious threat to the country’s economy and dollar market, but some still believe that the import of second-hand cars can help to balance the car and purchase market. They are much better than buying domestic cars.
