Are Tehran banks and stock exchanges closed?


According to Tejarat News, the Secretary of the Bank Coordination Council announced: Today, Tuesday, May 17, 1401, all branches of private and public banks are active in Tehran.

Alireza Gheitasi announced that according to the activities of the banks, the stock exchange organization will be open on Tuesday and will continue its activities.

Last night, the deputy governor of Tehran announced that all schools and offices in Tehran are closed due to air pollution. The official said that the reason for the closure of Tehran was air pollution and said: “Due to very unhealthy conditions (index 238) for all age groups, all sections of schools, offices and universities will be closed for Tuesday (May 17).”

Also, the Tehran Book Fair is closed and operates only virtually.

But as the secretary of the Banks Coordination Council has announced, all public and private banks in Tehran are open today and will continue to operate. In addition to banks, the Tehran Stock Exchange is also active.
