“Alexander Rodnyansky” and theater director “Ivan Viripayev” have been accused of spreading false information about the Russian army.
Charso Press: According to the Guardian, a court in Moscow ordered the arrest of film producer Alexander Rodnyansky and theater director Ivan Viripav for spreading false information about the Russian army.
The initial court hearings against Rodnyansky and Viripaf were held on April 27, but the results were recently reported by the court.
According to the press service of the court, Rodnyansky and Viripaf are based outside Russia and will be detained when the Russian authorities succeed in arresting or extraditing them. The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs also placed Viripaf on the federal wanted list.
Rudnyansky, born in Kiev, has been one of the most influential figures of Russian cinema in recent decades. He left Russia days after it launched an all-out invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and has repeatedly spoken out against the invasion of Ukraine. In October 2022, the Russian Ministry of Justice declared Rodnyansky a “foreign agent”.

He has been the producer of more than 30 films, including four films nominated for the Oscar in the category of the best foreign film, including “Loveless” and “Leviathan”.
Rodnyansky said in an interview with Variety last year that he has completely cut off his ties with Russia.
“Viripaf” is also a famous playwright, director who lives and works in Warsaw, and he was also a serious opponent of Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
