Associated Press: US seizes Iranian oil shipment

The Associated Press reports that the United States has silently seized the cargo of two tankers suspected of carrying Iranian oil, according to Fars News Agency.

The report claims that the tankers were part of a complex plan to counter sanctions, including forging documents and repainting the ship’s deck to cover up illegal shipments.

Details of the previously unreported seizure were in a federal civil case that last month after ships operated by Greek companies were ordered by U.S. law enforcement agencies to ship more than $ 38 million worth of cargo, according to the report. Houston and the Bahamas evacuated, unsealed. The Associated Press added that the seizure of the shipments by the United States dates back to the fall of 2020.

The report goes on to say that Biden’s government intends to revive the Iran nuclear deal through the Vienna talks, which include the lifting of sanctions against Iran’s oil exports, but has so far refused to take any action.

While confirming that the talks have reached the final stage, the United States claims that reaching a conclusion requires political decisions by Iran. State Department spokesman Ned Price claimed Friday morning that there are very few issues left to reach an agreement with Iran in Vienna, but that these are very significant and difficult issues.

“Ali Shamkhani,” the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, tweeted yesterday morning (Thursday, March 10) about the ongoing talks in Vienna: A quick agreement with false pretenses shows that the United States has no will to reach a strong and defensible agreement for the parties. “The Vienna talks are becoming more complicated every hour without a political decision by the United States.”
