Bashar al-Assad: Achieving a nuclear deal with Iran is in the interest of the global balance


According to Fars News Agency’s International Service, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, will pay a visit to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus this Wednesday afternoon.

The meeting reviewed co-operation between the two countries and efforts to implement previous agreements, especially in the economic and trade fields, the official Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported; Both countries, however, are subject to illegal Western sanctions.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the increasing efforts to strengthen the common relations between the nations of Iran and Syria. During the meeting, the continuation of cooperation in the fight against terrorism was also discussed.

Amir Abdullahian reiterated Tehran’s support for Syria and its people to liberate Syrian territory, saying that Syria’s role is important for regional stability.

He also presented a report on the Vienna nuclear talks and stressed that the Islamic Republic has presented plans in this regard that are in line with the rights and interests of the Iranian people. The Iranian foreign minister said that reaching an agreement would require serious will on the part of the West.

Al-Assad also stressed that Iran is on the right path by adhering to its principles and rights and not scoring in the face of pressure, stating that there are no goals in politics, but there are criteria and principles.

The Syrian president concluded by emphasizing that reaching an agreement in the nuclear talks is more important today than ever in the interests of Iran and the region and the global balance.

This is Amir Abdullahian’s third visit to Syria. He traveled to Syria in September and October 1400. He also traveled to Damascus on September 27 to attend a regional conference in support of Iraq, and met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Muqaddad. In Moscow and Beirut and in consultation with the officials of these countries, on October 8, 1400, he left for Damascus, the capital of Syria, and for the second time after taking office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he traveled to Damascus in less than a month and a half And Faisal al-Maqdad met and talked with his Syrian counterpart.

Our Foreign Minister announced the visit of Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Muqaddad to Tehran on 17 October in Damascus, calling Syria a strategic ally of Iran and saying: “In difficult days, we will not leave our allies and friends alone.”

It was after that that Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Maqdad arrived in Tehran on December 5th and met with Hussein Amir Abdullahian at the Foreign Ministry on December 6th. During this meeting, I handed over Mr. Assad’s written message to him. This message reflects our view on the importance of relations between Syria and Iran. Also today, I submitted Assad’s official invitation to Mr. Ra’isi to visit Syria. During this meeting, talks were held that reflected the excellent and strategic relations between Syria and Iran.
