He stated that 150,000 people between the ages of 10 and 49 have been added to the number of literate people this year. He added: Tests are being held gradually to increase this figure. Some of them studied up to the third grade and some of them up to the sixth grade. Based on the statistics organization, we have 1,707,000 illiterate people and 2,500,000 newly literate people. I think that if we continue the same flow of literacy with a better speed and acceleration, along with it, we will advance the deepening of literacy, we will get closer to the real number of illiteracy, because the previous numbers were based on self-declaration, and with new plans The figure of absolute illiteracy will become more qualitative.
The head of the Literacy Movement Organization said: We are also trying to define basic Quran literacy with the cooperation of other institutions. In the country, we have people who learned to read the Qur’an. They can read and write very easily, but they did not become literate through the official system of the country’s education system. We are trying to hold tests for these people so that they can also be issued with a certificate of completion of the primary course, so that they can be considered as one of the most literate people in the country.
Stating that we are trying to make the number of 10 to 49-year-old literates a defensible number by the end of the government, Abdi said: I think in the next two years, if there is good cooperation, we will reach the number of 97 to 98.5%, which is a good number in the world. Also, we allocated 15% of our capacities to the education of illiterate people aged 49 and above, so that we can consider educational measures for them if they themselves wish to apply. We are trying to extend this path and this plan to people over 60 years old, and this requires the approval of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution.
