Behavioral and sexual violence is prosecuted at the Cinema House Preservation Council

According to Fars News Agency, the Cinema House in a statement in response to the recent margins, announced that any behavioral and sexual violence in the cinema will be pursued.

The text of the statement published by the Cinema House is as follows:

“In the name of God

The dignity of Iranian cinema depends on the empathy, support and responsibility of the professionals of all its activists.

The Cinema House, as the Iranian Cinema Guilds Association, condemns any possible violence, especially sexual violence in its various forms in the process of artistic-cultural activities, and the Protection Council, based on its duties and powers contained in the Articles of Association of the Cinema House, is responsible for any behavior. Contrary to the cultural etiquette and professional ethics of cinema people.

The Cinema House considers the pursuit of the rights of all individuals active in the Iranian film industry who are subjected to any behavioral violence to be an inherent duty of the Cinema House and will not refrain from taking any action in doing so. Obviously, these issues will be addressed with absolute confidentiality.

With this description, the Cinema House, following the publication of some of the accusations and suspicions raised in this regard, especially in cyberspace, considers it necessary to inform all the people of Iranian cinema:

1- The Cinema House Protection Council (consisting of the Chairman of the Board, the Chairman of the Supreme Arbitration Council, three trusted and well-known personalities of Iranian cinema is ready to elect the General Assembly of the Cinema House, a representative of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and a lawyer) In accordance with ethical principles and confidentiality, handle all reports and complaints and provide the necessary legal advice to the clients and, if necessary, refer the matter to the courts.

2- The Cinema House Protection Council, in coordination with the country’s cinema organization, will follow up on the implementation of the issued rulings.

3- The Board of Directors and the Guardian Council of the Cinema House will once again insist on and defend the rights of women working in the Iranian film industry in a persistent and responsible manner.

4- The Cinema House considers the responsibility of the honorable producers and directors of Iranian cinema regarding the observance of the dignity of cinema colleagues as an undeniable thing and demands the necessary care and attention in this regard.

Dear Colleagues: The expansion of communication systems and the development and growth of Iran’s film industry have made a serious confrontation with violators of moral and professional principles inevitable, and all Iranian film activists should note that the sanctity of this house is the responsibility of each of its members. “We should not allow a few possible misbehaviors of some filmmakers to be written by a large number of people in the proud Iranian cinema.”
