According to IRNA, the Tomb of the Poets is the tomb of famous poets of the country, including Shahriyar, Khaghani Shervani, Asadi Tusi and Qatran, Hammam Tabrizi, Mani Shirazi and Shapur Neyshabouri, which is located next to the Imamzadeh of Seyed Hamzeh in the old neighborhood of Sorkhab and is one of the sights. It is considered as Tabriz and its fame has reached abroad.

In this cultural and historical complex, which is located in the old part of Tabriz, 320 poets and mystics are resting, the oldest of whom is “Asadi Tusi”, a poet of the fourth century AH.

The historical complex of the Tomb of the Poets in Tabriz, as a cultural symbol of Iran and Azerbaijan, has been neglected by the authorities in recent years, and its reconstruction project, which began in 2004 and was scheduled to coincide with the Tabriz 2018 event and select this city as the tourism capital of Islamic countries. To be opened, it is not completed yet and it is in confusion.

The people of Tabriz, pointing out that this historical complex is the heritage of all Iranians and the government should allocate acceptable funds in the form of a line from the national budget to complete this half-finished project, due to the lack of work and inattention of the responsible institutions. These heritage and cultural projects are complaining.

It is said that the completion of the reconstruction project of the thousand-year-old Tabriz Poets’ Tomb complex requires 300 billion tomans of credit for today’s account, which if the municipality is to spend 10 billion tomans annually, it will take 30 years to complete; In other words, in terms of inflation and the annual increase in costs, it is impossible to complete this project with the budget allocated by the municipality.

On the other hand, the people and senior officials of East Azerbaijan, referring to the position of the Tomb of the Poets in the cultural, literary and heritage atlas of Iranians and its recognition as one of the main symbols of Tabriz, say that the government should do the same in other cities. Enter the pit and help the municipality complete this national project with significant financial assistance, not a drip.

Before the plan to recreate the historical complex of the Tomb of the Poets was handed over to the Municipality of Tabriz, the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of East Azerbaijan was in charge of excavating around the complex; In 2014, this project was handed over to the municipality and the following year, this complex was handed over to the Tabriz Municipality Civil Organization.

At that time, the project was supposed to work with 9,000 square meters of space and 12,000 square meters of infrastructure, but this did not happen; It is said that Tabriz Municipality has so far spent about 28 billion Tomans to recreate the Tomb of the Poets of Tabriz by concluding seven contracting contracts.

For years now, this beautiful and spectacular complex and its surroundings have been trapped by metal fences that were originally built to renovate and beautify it, but these days they play a deterrent role for guests and tourists to visit the Tomb of the Poets.
