Car bomb explodes in Aden, southern Yemen

According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, the city of Aden in southern Yemen (as the center of the government affiliated with Riyadh) witnessed a severe explosion this afternoon (Sunday), but no casualties have been reported yet.

According to Yemeni news sources, the blast took place in the Al-Ma’la area, in front of the police building. Some sources have written that Saleh Ali Al-Darjani, the head of the Joint Staff of the Southern Transitional Council, survived the blast.

Some sources also write that Colonel “Qasim al-Bahiri”, the head of the intelligence service of the resigned government, was abducted by the militants of the Transitional Council on the way from Taiz to Aden. Official sources have not yet responded to the news.

Tensions and clashes between Transitional Council militants claiming secession from Yemen and those of the resigned government since the beginning of the war have been a constant source of crisis in Yemen and have led to bloody and protracted clashes in stages.

Observers see the clashes as a power struggle between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, in which the Transitional Council obeys the UAE and the resigned government has no authority other than to carry out Saudi orders.

Last week, gunmen from the Transitional Council opened fire on Saudi forces at the Habiq checkpoint at the entrance to the city of Hadibu, the administrative center of Socotra.
