Challenges for Democrats to maintain Senate majority

“Democrats face a negative political outlook nationally,” Hill’s website wrote in a report Saturday. President Joe Biden’s popularity is well below expectations, inflation in the United States is at its highest level in decades, and Republican voters are far more motivated than Democrats. These factors could take the majority of the Senate out of the control of Democrats.

“Ultimately, I think things will be tough for Democrats if the atmosphere does not change,” said Kyle Kondick, editor of Sabato Crystal Ball at the University of Virginia Center for Politics.

He added that part of the Democrats’ challenge is overcoming Republican enthusiasm and political polarization in a year that has been unfavorable to Democrats and their candidates from the start. Democrats control the White House and Congress, and the ruling party almost always loses its place in the midterm elections.

Republicans must win only five seats in the House of Representatives and only one seat in the Senate to win a majority in both houses. This means that if Democrats want to maintain control of Congress this year, they have no chance of making a mistake.

The US midterm elections are scheduled to take place on November 8, 2022, equal to 17 Aban 1401, in which all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 34 out of 100 seats in the Senate will be contested.

With 221 of the 435 seats in the House of Representatives, the Democrats now have a majority in the House; But with just two less seats in the Senate, they hold 48 of the 100 seats in the House, and Republicans have 50 seats in the Senate, so even one vote in the Senate is crucial.

The 60th US presidential election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, equal to November 6, 1403. The winner of the 2024 elections will run for the presidency from January 20, 2025 (January 11, 1403) to January 20, 2029 (February 11, 1407).
