According to the Fars News Agency cinema reporter, quoting Washington TimesChina pressures Sony to remove Statue of Liberty from “Spider-Man: No Way Home”

According to an inside Hollywood source, the Chinese government has asked a major US film studio to remove part of the recent best-selling Spider-Man film as a precondition for the film’s release in China.

Former Hollywood Reporter Matthew Blooney reports that the Chinese have demanded the removal of the “Statue of Liberty”, New York Port’s most famous symbol, from the end of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. The previous two Spider-Man films, made by Marvel Studios, grossed $ 116 million and $ 200 million in China.

Chinese officials told Sony Pictures Entertainment in late 2021 that the Statue of Liberty should be removed from the final scenes or reduced in importance before the film could be shown in China. The final scene consists of three scenes of Tardar’s hero swinging with the supervillains on the famous Statue of Liberty and fighting hard against them.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” is an American superhero film based on the character of Spider-Man from Marvel Comics and was released in 2021. The film is co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios and distributed by Sony Pictures Release. The film is a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Away from Home (2019), making it the 27th film in Marvel’s cinematic world. Directed by John Watts is a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Eric Summers, starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, alongside Zandia, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batallon, John Favreau, Jimmy Foxx, Willem Dafoe. Starring Alfred Molina, Benedict Wang, Tony Rivoli, Merissa Tommy, Andrew Garfield, and Toby Maguire. In the film, Parker asks Steven Strange (Cumberbatch) to magically hide his identity away from home after being publicly exposed, which eventually leads to the sudden opening of the multipurpose and other characters entering Parker’s world from parallel worlds.
