Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Golestan noted: In the recent visit of Iskandar Mokhtari, the supreme advisor of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts in the field of buildings and historical structures, to Gorgan Jame Mosque and holding a specialized meeting with the members of the Technical Council of Cultural Heritage of the province, it was decided to restore the After securing the necessary funds, the historical and religious monument of the province should be implemented in three seasons, including urban and architectural studies, structural studies in the Qiblah porch, and the collection and documentation of laser scanning, short-range and photogrammetry, and the preparation of maps related to plans, sections, and details.

He added: In this specialized meeting, it was decided to complete the description of the services of urban and architectural studies, as well as structural studies in the Qibla porch of Gorgan Jame Mosque, and after the review, a decision should be made regarding the appointment of a consultant. In the third part of the comprehensive study of this historical work, which is the collection and documentation, it was decided to obtain the description of the proposed services from competent consultants.

Emphasizing that the presence of archaeologists from the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of the province is essential in all the study and executive stages of the restoration of the Jame Mosque of Gorgan, he said: the national base of the historical city of Estrabad (Gorgan) to connect the sewage wells of the business units south of the Jame Mosque of Gorgan to the system Municipal sewerage is in charge of the necessary follow-ups from executive bodies.

The Jame Mosque of Gorgan, which was registered in the list of national monuments in 1311, is located in the neighborhood of Nalbandan market in the historical city of Estrabad (Gorgan) and on a land with an area of ​​1600 square meters. This building is one of the historical monuments that was built in the fifth and sixth centuries, that is, in the middle of the Seljuk period.

The minaret is the oldest part of the mosque, which is located on a round and thick stone with a circular plan. The entrance to the minaret is on the eastern side and has an internal staircase. On the outer body of the minaret, there are designs and embossed brick inscriptions in decorative Kufi script.

The altar of the mosque is located along with numerous carved and historical stone inscriptions belonging to the Safavid and Qajar period with the themes of the orders and laws of the rulers and the dedication letter attached to the walls of the western porch (Qiblah porch). The exquisite wooden door and pulpit of the mosque have been preserved in the form of inlays with Islamic and geometric motifs and decorations and inscriptions in the Tholut script from the Timurid period. The architectural decorations used in the construction of Gorgan Grand Mosque are a combination of bricks and tiles, seven-color tiles and brick minaret with Kufic lines from the Seljuk period.
