According to the Mehr correspondent, the Wrestling Federation should undoubtedly be considered one of the most diverse sports federations in Iran, which is not comparable to other disciplines. In fact, the wrestling federation, with its two important and medal-winning disciplines, freestyle wrestling and freestyle wrestling, has to spend many times more effort and money than single-discipline federations. This issue becomes more complicated when these two free and Western disciplines are also divided into categories of teenagers, youths, hopes and adults. The categories that each have to participate in the Asian, World and Olympic championships, as well as the training grounds, and according to the high expectations from the ship, must always return to our country with a full hand. For this reason, the Wrestling Federation is doomed to send national teams with any problems and challenges, but so far, the federation’s trustees have been able to cover the heavy costs of all the dispatches.
For some, the question may arise as to why sending them to international wrestling tournaments costs so much for shipowners. It should be noted, then, that usually the host countries are only responsible for the accommodation and transfer of the participating teams, and the heavy cost of airfare and registration for the tournament is borne by the visiting teams. Thus, in addition to the staggering cost of air travel, the wrestling federation must pay a high foreign exchange fee for each wrestler as a registration for the competition. Something that exists in fewer disciplines at the international level, but has plagued our country’s wrestling for years.
Now consider how much and billions must be paid to register national wrestling teams in both freestyle and western, in 10 weights (about 40 people in the form of expedition teams) according to the exchange rate. For example, we can mention the 2021 World Championships in Norway, where the wrestling federation has to pay about 23 million tomans for a plane ticket to send each wrestler. In addition, the registration fee for these competitions is estimated at 89 thousand euros.
However, with the end of the Tokyo Olympics and the beginning of a new season of international events ahead of the Iranian wrestling, the great and devastating challenge of billions in costs must be considered, which the wrestling federation will continue to face.
