Now that the call for change is being heard within the Republican Party, some are calling for a shift away from Trump and favoring Ron Dosantis. This 44-year-old politician was not only able to win again in the highly competitive elections of Florida, but he also increased his difference from his rival to about 20 percent. He was also able to win the majority of votes in Miami-Dade County, which is considered the base of the Democrats.
However, it is not yet clear whether Trump can be defeated in the internal elections of the Republican party. Although the number of his supporters has decreased, their number is still high. According to the findings of the Morning Consult polling company, 48% of Republicans support Trump’s candidacy in the 2024 election, and 26% of them support his young rival.
In the heat of the assignment of the Senate and considering that Trump has implicitly promised to officially volunteer for the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential election by November 15 (November 24), some Republicans have pressured him to reverse this decision. Postpone and wait until the election of the Georgia state seat in the Senate is determined. The race in this state is between Trump-backed candidate Herschel Walker and Democrat Raphael Warnock.
Although it was Trump who supported Walker (an American football legend in the state of Georgia and an old family friend) in the race and increased his chances of winning, however, according to sources familiar with CNN, he was afraid of the influence. The lack of presence of the American President on his electorate asked Trump’s staff to make arrangements for him to make speeches and campaigns in a place other than Jorhia during the recent elections.
Some Georgia Republicans say that Trump’s decision to stick with his campaign plan will distract from the issue of control of the Senate, which is now of utmost importance to Republicans. Trump also hopes that with his speech on November 24, Iqbal will neutralize Dosantis.
