According to the economic reporter of Fars News Agency, one of the most important actions of the 13th government in the first year of operation was the construction of 6,000 megawatts of power plants, which changed the country’s annual construction capacity. According to the report of the Ministry of Energy, the increase in the plant capacity of 6000 megawatts was achieved when 24 power plants with a capacity of 4231 megawatts were built, and also, the power of the existing power plants grew by 1635 megawatts with measures such as optimization and improvement of efficiency, and 134 megawatts were added to the renewable plant capacity. The country included solar, wind and electric power plants. Previously, the historical record of power plant construction in one year belonged to the construction of 4935 megawatts in 2009.

In this regard, one of the power plants built by the government, which was put into operation during the first year of operation, was the construction of the gas unit of the Mehtab combined cycle power plant in the desert of Zarand.

This power plant unit will be built in line with the development of Babazdehi Bala power plants, including 2 gas units and one steam unit, with a total nominal capacity of 484 megawatts. Simultaneously with the construction of this power plant, the necessary energy equivalent to the household consumption of 1 million 570 thousand people will be provided.

The construction of this power plant is located 10 kilometers from the Zarand-Kerman road, the exit of Baharestan village, after the village of Aliabad Alia, and in a land of 52 hectares.

According to the reports of the power grid management, the first gas unit of the said power plant was synchronized with the power grid on June 22, 1401, and the second unit was also connected to the country’s power grid on July 25, 1401.

In the fire fighting system of the power plant, the CO2 fire extinguishing system related to both gas units has been installed and operated, foam tanks have been placed in both charging units and in the circuit.
