Zionist media reported that a confidential document had reached the office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Immigration stating that the lives of Ethiopian Jews waiting to be brought to the occupied territories were not in danger.
According to Sputnik, quoting the Israeli website Wint, the purpose of the requests to expedite the Ethiopian Jews to Israel is to put pressure on the highest political levels.
Despite the difficult situation in Ethiopia, the rescue operation could lead to clashes with Ethiopian authorities and endanger the lives of those waiting, the document said.
The Hebrew-language website stated: “According to the assessments of Israeli officials, the operation to bring these Jews to Israel is not feasible in the near future.”
Earlier, the former Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, approved a bill to relocate the remaining Ethiopian Jews, during which some 2,000 Flasmura Jews were deported to Israel, ending the operation in March 2021; But there are currently about 10,000 Jews waiting to be reunited with their families in Israel. These numbers are not yet considered new Jewish immigrants because the process of converting to Judaism has not yet been completed.
In this regard, Israeli Immigration Minister Benina Tamushata criticized the document issued by the Internal Security Council.
“It’s not about security assessments, it’s about taking a political stance,” he said. Some parties are trying to disrupt the rescue operation of the remaining Jews in Ethiopia. This document should be thrown in the trash of Israel’s history. This document ignores the Flashmura Jews and their roots, their decades-long wait to immigrate to Israel. This document is not a security document, but a personal intention to try to neglect the rest of the Jews left in Ethiopia.
In this regard, the Jews living in Israel, who are originally from Ethiopia, in an urgent message asked the Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to return all Jews to Israel and to abide by the agreement reached in 2020 for the transfer of all Jews to Israel.
The Israeli prime minister announced Monday morning that the issue of bringing Jews from Ethiopia would be reconsidered within the next 24 hours. He called for speeding up efforts on the issue.
