Cortana will be disabled in Windows 11 update

According to Aetna from ISNA, users who want to open Cortana in Windows 11 will now be faced with a notification about the obsoleteness of this application and a link to a support article about this change. Microsoft is now planning to end support for Cortana in Teams mobile, Microsoft Teams Display, and Microsoft Teams Rooms in the fall of 2023. According to Microsoft, surprisingly, Cortana will still be available inside the mobile version of Outlook.
Cortana was initially released as a digital assistant on Windows Phone, and then Microsoft added this digital assistant to Windows 10 in 2015. This digital assistant was integrated into the Windows 10 taskbar with support for voice commands, reminders and the ability to open applications. But later, Microsoft removed Cortana from Windows 11 taskbar. However, the standalone app kept Cortana up until last week.
Ultimately, despite a major redesign for iOS and Android, Cortana failed to compete with competitors like Alexa or Google Assistant. Cortana’s fate was largely tied to Microsoft’s Windows Phone failure, with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella admitting in 2019 that Cortana was falling behind its competitors.
According to The Verge, Microsoft is now working on Windows Copilot, a new sidebar for Windows 11 powered by Bing Chat that can control Windows settings, answer questions, and more. do much else. Windows Copilot is expected to be available this fall as part of the Windows 11 update.
