Damascus: Western madness towards Russia escalates tensions


According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Maqdad, who traveled to Moscow, met today (Sunday) with Leonid Stutsky, Chairman of the Duma Committee on International Affairs.

According to the official Syrian news agency (SANADuring his meeting with Stutsky today, he reviewed the latest developments in Syria, the region and the international arena.

During the meeting, the Syrian Foreign Minister stressed the importance and strategy of relations with Russia in achieving common goals and strengthening security and stability in the region and the world, as well as the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.

According to the report, al-Maqdad further condemned “Western madness towards Russia, which is aimed at maintaining Western control and ambition in the management of world affairs, and which ignites and intensifies tensions in the international arena.”

Al-Maqdad refers to the Western madness of the accusations made in recent days by various Western officials against Russia regarding Ukraine. While Russia has repeatedly warned Ukraine that the Ukrainian military is violating the Minsk agreement, it is targeting the Russian-speaking Autonomous Territories of Donbass in eastern Ukraine, but the Westerners ignore these warnings and urge Russia to deploy troops on its borders. Ukraine has been accused of preparing for an “imminent attack” and has sent large numbers of troops and military equipment to Eastern Europe.

In a meeting with Al-Muqaddas today, Stutsky reaffirmed Russia’s support for Syria in various fields, especially in strengthening stability, fighting terrorism, and maintaining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic. .

Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad announced on Tuesday that Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Muqaddad would visit Russia later this week or early next week.
