Decreasing activity of digital currency scam bots on Twitter following Elon Musk’s changes


Elon Musk’s latest effort in the war against fraudulent Twitter bots seems to have really worked, and the cryptocurrency community on the social network has reported a significant drop in the number of bots commenting on their posts.

To the report In a post on December 11th, Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, stated that he will have a surprise for the bots tomorrow. He later explained that they have found the few people behind many of these bots and trolls, and the platform will block the IP addresses of these offenders.

Musk clarified that while fraudsters may try other methods to circumvent the IP blocking scheme, Twitter will suspend their accounts as soon as they become active again.

Billy Markus, one of the creators of Dogecoin, alias Shibatoshi Nakamoto on Twitter, said to Elon Musk in a post on December 11:

I did a test post and instead of seeing 50 replies from bots I just saw a huge improvement, very exciting.

Other users also tested the latest changes implemented by Musk to reduce the number of these fraudulent bots.

PlanB, a well-known Bitcoin analyst and investor, released an image of its price prediction model as a test to see how many bots would comment on the post. Until the writing of this report, this analyst’s Twitter post has not received any comments from these robots.

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, also stated that although bot activity on Twitter seems to have decreased a bit recently, he cannot say whether Musk’s actions are the reason for the decrease in bot activity.

Buterin says:

I have no idea how [تأثیر] Elon Musk’s actions set him apart from the digital currency winter and the changes I envision in my mind.

Some users have reported that they still see comments from these bots on their posts; However, Twitter quickly deletes their message.

Twitter’s spam and scam bots have long plagued users, and Musk has made solving the problem a top priority since taking the helm of the platform in October.

Musk also mentioned in his last post that the platform plans to take legal action against Twitter fraudsters in the future; However, it has yet to provide further details.
