Discovery of a new mass grave in western Mosul, Iraq

According to Fars News Agency’s International Service, Iraqi media sources reported the discovery of a mass grave in the Al-Rifai neighborhood west of Mosul.

Another mass grave of ISIS victims has been discovered in western Mosul, but the city defense and forensic medicine have delayed the opening of the mass grave due to the possibility of explosives, Saber News Telegram reported. Ensure that it is free from any explosives and ammunition belonging to ISIL.

Between 2014 and 2017, ISIS controlled large areas of Iraq and Syria, leaving more than 200 mass graves, according to UN figures. The graves are estimated to contain more than 12,000 bodies in Iraq and 5,000 in northern Syria.
