The explorers found these graves while each of the bodies were in cloths, some of which were colored and tied with ropes. According to Christof Makowski, head of the archaeological research of this historical site, some of the bodies of these men and women were buried with ceramic and wooden masks on their skulls.

These graves were discovered in the Pachacámac archaeological site near Lima. This archaeological site belongs to the Wari civilization. These people were buried near the “Color Temple” of the “Vari” civilization and their age goes back to 800 to 1100.

“Vari” are famous for healthy mummies and colorful works of art, including ceramics and detailed fabrics.

In addition, archaeologists found two wooden objects near the cemetery in the remains of a nearby settlement. The two objects were discovered in a cache of spiny shells that had been imported into the Wari Empire from present-day Ecuador.

There are carvings on these pieces of wood that show that the Pachacamac people had some contact with the people of the Tiwanaku territory, which is now part of Peru, Bolivia, and Chile.

The exploration of “Pachacamak” and the examination of the discovered works are still ongoing.
