Engineer Zarghami ordered the reopening of the Portuguese fortress of Hormoz

According to the report of Aria Heritage, quoting the public relations of the General Directorate of Heritage, Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts of Hormozgan, Engineer Seyyed Ezatullah Zarghami said during the visit on Thursday, December 25, 1400: “Restoration is one of the tourist attractions and makes people familiar with the methods of reconstruction of historical monuments.”

Pointing out that the island of Hormuz is one of the tourist hubs of Iran, he added: “This fort was built by the Portuguese 500 years ago and they planted many cannons here, extorted money from ships and no one was their opponent.”

“When Westerners want to magnify their work, they make films like ‘Navaron Cannons’ to show how the guerrillas destroyed Navarron cannons,” he said. “The Portuguese fought and succeeded in defeating the Portuguese.”

Pointing out that the Portuguese castle is an ancient and historical monument that is in the possession of cultural heritage, Mr. Zarghami added: “We have credit problems and right now the contractor for the castle is asking for several billion tomans and the ministry has not been able to answer.”

The Minister of Heritage, Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts continued: “This shows that a fundamental change must take place in our credit in the field of restoration.”

Engineer Zarghami added: “We considered part of the provincial budgets approved by the government for important historical buildings. “At the same time, with the planning we have done and the participation of the private sector, a variety of services will be provided to the people.”

The Portuguese fortress of Hormuz is located on the northern side of the island and on the coast, which is the most important fortress left from the time of Portuguese domination of the coasts and islands of the Persian Gulf. The castle was built by the Portuguese sailor Alfonso Alberkerk in 1507 AD in a place called Morena.
