Extremist elements attack the Iranian consulate in Herat, Afghanistan – Mehr News Agency Iran and world’s news



According to Mehr News Agency, Afghan media reported on Monday that a number of extremist elements had attacked the Iranian consulate in Herat.

According to local Afghan sources, the demonstrators allegedly harassed Afghan refugees in Iran without any evidence and attacked the Iranian Consulate General on false pretenses.

The group, whose identity is not yet known, broke the security cameras in addition to burning tires in front of the Consulate General.

No further information has been released on the main intentions of the demonstrators.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been welcoming Afghan immigrants for many years, especially during the two decades of occupation by foreign invading forces in Afghanistan led by American terrorists, and has emphasized the observance of their human rights based on Islamic principles, friendship and brotherhood.

Saeed Khatibzadeh, Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the rallies in front of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul and the Consulate General of our country in Herat and the scattered stone throwing that took place, reminding Security of diplomatic facilities, stressed: The full security of the embassies and missions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Herat and other cities of Afghanistan must be fully provided and the necessary guarantees for the safe operation of these missions must be provided.

Referring to the deep historical and multi-layered ties between the two nations of Iran and Afghanistan and decades of respectful hospitality of the Iranian people to the people of Afghanistan, the Foreign Ministry spokesman warned against the plotters and ill-wishers of Iran and Afghanistan.

Khatibzadeh stressed that, unfortunately, some clips and comments are being published with the aim of Iran or Afghanistan phobia, which targets the emotions of the people of the two countries and demands more vigilance of the people and officials of the two countries.

In the end, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: We are in constant contact with the ambassador and officials of the missions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Afghanistan.
