Farsfaj Caravanserai is a symbol of the connection between history, culture and religion in Tuyserkan


Shah Abbasi Caravanserai “Farsfaj” is one of the historical and valuable buildings of Tuyserkan city belonging to the Safavid era, which stands out among the invigorating nature of Qalqalrud plain and Farsfaj city. These caravanserais were located at a distance from one house, that is, the distance that caravans could travel from morning to evening on four-legged animals and rest in the next caravanserai. One of these caravanserais is Shah Abbasi Caravanserai “Farsfaj” in Tuyserkan city, which is located 20 km from Tuyserkan to Kangavar and on the side of this road and also near the current city of Farsfaj.
This caravanserai was actually a resting place for travelers and caravans that traveled to Iraq for business and tourism and to visit the holy shrines of Aliaat.

In Shah Abbasi Caravanserai “Farsfaj” facilities were provided for the establishment of four ends and their loads and parts for rest and sleep of the caravans, which after passing the night, resumed their movement the next morning.

The building of this caravanserai was built between 1006 and 1038 in the style of Safavid architecture and its area is about 4000 square meters. The most important feature of Farsfaj historical caravanserai is the existence of towers and fortifications in its four corners, which were built for security reasons. This work has been registered in the list of historical monuments of Iran with the number 1970 dated 6/2/1376.

Director of Tuyserkan Cultural Heritage Office on how to use this monument to further boost the tourism industry of Tuyserkan, said: Financial and economic pursuit for the city.

In an interview with ISNA, Ishaq Torkashvand stated: Since the beginning of the renovation of this caravanserai 12 years ago, a credit of more than 850 million Tomans has been spent.

He stated: Shah Abbasi Caravanserai “Farsfaj” according to the public desire for historical and traditional places, can be used in areas such as traditional hospitality, traditional dining hall and ancillary infrastructure of welfare and sports.

Torkashvand added: “In recent years, initial talks have been held for the presence of investors in the plan to organize the Farsfaj caravanserai, and even its comprehensive landscaping plan has been approved and handed over by the province’s cultural heritage after eliminating minor shortcomings.”

He said: “Now the ground has been prepared for the maximum utilization of this historical, cultural and tourism capacity of the city, provided that the private sector has a colorful and effective input in this field.”

According to ISNA, Shah Abbasi Caravanserai “Farsfaj” in recent years during Nowruz in recent years witnessed a festival of local and traditional food with a significant and dazzling presence of Nowruz guests and tourists, but in the last two years the outbreak of Corona virus prevented the event.

Also, in recent years, 15 km from Tuyserkan to Kangavar road, which is located in the direction of Farsfaj city, has been blocked and under traffic load, facilitating the public transit process to see this historical caravanserai and the access road to it in Baft. The interior of Farsfaj city has been organized.

The city of Farsfaj has this historical treasure while there is also a historical bridge of the Safavid era, and on the other hand, the vast apple orchards with their pleasant and beautiful natural effects and the sweet and memorable taste of its apples have made Farsfaj the city. Be called “apple blossoms”.

In the meantime, it is clear that the structural conditions and government funds are practically not suitable and responsible for turning the historical Shah Abbas Safavid caravanserai into a residential, welfare and tourism complex, and the entry of private sector investors can make a big difference in this regard.
