According to the Mehr news agency, quoting Reuters, the French Foreign Ministry, in violation of international law regarding the need not to interfere in the internal affairs of independent countries, issued a statement calling for the release of a person accused of spying in Iran!

An intervention statement issued by the French Foreign Ministry claims that the re-imprisonment of “Fariba Adelkhah” has many consequences for relations between the two countries and reduces trust between the two countries!

The statement added: “France demands the immediate release of” Fariba Adelkhah “!

In June 1999, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian issued a statement reiterating his call for Tehran to release Adelkhah, who had been imprisoned for trying to undermine national security in Iran.

Fariba Adelkhah, a researcher at the Paris Institute for Political Studies (Cyan Po), was arrested on July 14, 2009 on espionage charges and sentenced to five years in prison after a trial. In the fall of 2020, his sentence became house arrest and he was serving it in Tehran.
