Functions and features of the new version of Google Chrome
Selecting “Battery Optimization” every time you turn it on can help save power, or you can set it to automatically turn on whenever the battery is below 20%.
There is an option to activate this system whenever you are using a laptop that is not connected to power.
When Energy Saver is on, a new leaf icon appears next to the address bar. This feature works by doing things like limiting background activity and reducing visual effects.
“You may notice changes in game and video performance,” Google says. Meanwhile, the Memory Saver option frees up memory from pages you’re not using to make performance much smoother.
All inactive tabs will still be visible, but won’t do anything until you return to them. Google claims that means Chrome uses up to 30% less memory.
In this case, you’ll see a message in the address bar telling you whenever Memory Saver is on. But for sites you want to stay active, you can exempt them in a special list.
Google has also created a brand new performance menu in the settings so you can familiarize yourself with the latest additions.
These features will appear in Chrome 108, which will be released in the next few weeks.
