“Gulghaltan” Khafr Fars, a religion registered in the spiritual heritage

The mirror of “Gulghaltan”, a baby or in the local dialect “Golughaltak”, which is one of the forgotten traditions of Khafr city, was documented for national registration by the Cultural Heritage, Council and Dehyari of Karadeh village of this city, and this December with the number 2401 Iran was registered to remove the dust of oblivion.

A member of the Islamic Council of Karadeh village in Khafr city said in an exclusive interview with IRNA on Sunday: “Your flower ceremony will be held at the same time as the daffodil flower begins to grow in Khafr. Narcissus flowers are collected for the baby flower rolling ceremony.
Mohammad Reza Ghaderi added: “After collecting the arranged flowers, the flowers are separated from the stem and poured into a tent or a light-colored cloth, usually white.” The baby, who has been taken to the bathroom the day before to be clean and tidy for the ceremony, is then placed in the middle of the cloth.
He said: “After placing the baby in the clothes among the flowers on the cloth, the women of the family, especially the old women, especially the grandmothers, take the four sides of the cloth to the family members and roll the baby among the daffodils with salawat, lullabies and poetry readings.” Daffodils fall on the baby’s head.

A member of the Islamic Council of Karadeh village stated that some people pour narcissus flowers on the baby’s head without any cloth in the narcissus. Flowers in the closet for private babies from one month to one year is held privately with the presence of family members and women in the family.
Pointing out that this is the first national registration in the field of rituals and traditions of Khafr city, he added: “This custom in Khafr is 100 years old and its difference with similar flower-laying ceremonies in the country is the use of” daffodils “, which is native to this region.” Is, instead of Mohammadi flowers.
Ghaderi said about the reason for holding this ceremony: In addition to fragrant and believing that it makes the baby’s body fragrant, narcissus flower is considered to have a warm nature in the people of this village, which is done to prevent colds in children born in the cold season.
Referring to the influence of religious beliefs in the formation of this tradition, he said: “Also, the belief that” Narges “is the name of the mother of Imam Zaman (as) and considering that this flower dies at the beginning of winter cold and blackness, people in the region believe this It is effective in shaping the child’s spiritual faith and belief.
According to him, this ritual will be held symbolically and traditionally for the first time in the annual Narges Khafr Flower Festival on December 8, 2010.

Wrapping babies in white cloth and rolling them in petals is like baptism in other religions, but this custom goes back to an old Iranian myth called the “smiling flower” in which pure and holy humans promised the birth of a baby.
Most of the daffodil plantations in Khafr city are located in Karadeh village with an area of more than 100 hectares. This amount reaches 250 hectares by considering mixed and scattered farms.
Khafr is one of the cities of Fars province, which is located 109 km from Shiraz. Khafr, with about 350 hectares of narcissus, is the largest narcissus in Persia and with the production of more than 150 million flower branches, is one of the centers of narcissus flower production in the country.
According to the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of Fars, the narcissus flower festival of Khafr city will be held from 17 to 21 December 1400 in the historical village of Karadeh, in the central part of the city.
