Has Russia helped change the world order? Mehr News Agency Iran and world’s news

Mehr News Agency, International Group – Samaneh Akwan: Since the beginning of the Ukraine crisis and Russia’s military invasion of the country, various analyzes have been published about the disruption of world order. While Western analysts believe that the invasion of Ukraine has shown that global order and the rule of international law have been severely challenged and that international institutions have not been able to counter the aggression, other analysts elsewhere There are also worlds that strongly oppose this view. Referring to the US illegal wars on the world stage, especially its military strikes against Syria and intelligence and logistical cooperation in the Yemeni war, these people have stated that the ideal world order based on the absolute rule of law and international law is never in The whole world did not exist, and this time the only difference is that it was not the United States that started the unjust and unnecessary war, but Russia.

There is no doubt that the former order, which was based on American unipolar power on the world stage, has disappeared, but perhaps the international actor who destroyed this order is not Russia, and the group of countries that stand against hegemony and extravagance. They have been in the process of confronting the American world order for years. The resistance of the Axis countries against the aspirations of the West and their puppet government in the occupied territories, the resistance against the aggression of the Arab coalition in Yemen and the resistance against the West’s desire to overthrow the political system in Syria are examples of focal points of confrontation. The world order was intended by the United States, which has been in place since the administration of George W. Bush, and the United States has spent a great deal of money to institutionalize it.

Russia’s war with Ukraine, however, marked a major turning point in the decline of world order for the United States. Russia’s invasion of its neighbor to disarm was one of the events that challenged the American order. The important point in this issue was the sharp revelation of the weaknesses of the world management system and, of course, the efficiency and performance of international institutions. International bodies such as the United Nations, which oversees the establishment and maintenance of peace around the world, have failed to play a serious and effective role in resolving the crisis, and at the same time have failed to mediate between the West and Russia. Provide pre-war disputes.

International security organizations such as NATO have failed to live up to their commitment to protecting the interests of Europe and the United States, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky begged the European Union and NATO members to protect his country from Russian attacks. The 30 countries involved in their administrative bureaucracy and economic considerations did not engage in direct war with Russia and saw fit to turn Ukraine into a proxy war with Russia. But that was not the order of the United States. The new world order proposed by George W. Bush was that the world should know that the United States is the most militarily and politically powerful country in the world and the only power pole in the world, and all countries should respect this superiority and even think of harming American interests. Do not have their minds. This order, however, as it was repeatedly undermined by various countries, reached its zenith in the story of the Ukraine war.

Russia may now have disrupted the US-imposed world order, but it had initially shown the courage to confront the US and target US interests in the region. Now, years later, Russia has also come to the conclusion that it must play its part in the decline of Western power, especially the United States, and that China will likely be the next player to challenge US global power.

In the Ukraine war, Russia not only questioned the existence and prestige of international organizations and the world order sought by the United States, but also destroyed the economic system, global energy security, and even the order in the world cycle of production and distribution of goods. Of course, Moscow’s achievement from this full-scale war against the “status quo” was not to achieve its national interests. The most ideal situation for Moscow was for Zlensky to accept Moscow’s security demands and withdraw its membership in NATO and the European Union, and not to turn his country into a Western military, weapons and intelligence base against Russia. In this game, Ukraine, as in all previous years, sided with the United States and the West, and after being rejected by them, has now become a proxy war ground between the two sides. This is a situation that many international relations experts call a tragic fate for nations.

Russia’s field action against the Western Front, however, must now, in addition to trying to end the war – and not fall into the trap of “Vietnamization of Ukraine” – increase diplomatic efforts to fight the economy.

The new order that the Ukraine war can bring to the world is the decline of the dollar’s position in the world arena, especially in the region of Asia and East Asia. If Russia’s military action is not accompanied by diplomatic and economic action, it certainly cannot serve its long-term interests, but if it moves toward global economic solidarity against the dollar’s domination of the world community, it could be a great achievement for all countries that are sanctioned. Are considered US unilaterals. The declining position of the dollar means the loss of the United States’ greatest tool of domination and coercion, and it can also lead to economic alliances on the sanctions front and, in the long run, to a new order in the world economic system. Meanwhile, if China joins the fight against dollar domination, the American world order will collapse completely, and this seems to have been Russia’s second priority after the war in Ukraine over the past few months.

A joint statement by Putin and Xi Jinping a few days before the start of the war in Ukraine made clear reference to this issue. The statement repeatedly referred to the issue of world order and complained that the world order created after World War II and the Cold War could not guarantee the survival of security and peace in the world and only guaranteed the national interests of the United States and its allies. The declaration also emphasized the balanced distribution of power in the world; An issue that was not to the liking of Western countries.

A new world order has been forming for a long time with a serious emphasis on reforming the structure of international organizations, redistributing power in the world, and insisting on a multipolar world. Russia may see economic and financial losses in the short term from taking an important step towards challenging the US world order, but it is well aware of the trend in the world. This is a process that the countries of the resistance, Latin American countries and other countries opposed to global arrogance began many years ago, and now with the accession of Russia and the possibility of China joining, it seems to pave the way for a serious decline of the United States on the world stage.
