How did Tehran Short Film Festival start?

Fars News Agency – Cinema Group – Sajjad Rezaei Moghadam: Tehran Short Film Festival is perhaps one of the most important and of course the most prestigious festivals held in Iran’s cinema space and attracts many fans to its venue every year.

Even last year, when the festival was associated with many social and political events, and some people tried to use this cultural and artistic event to disrupt the peace of the society and make its conditions appear unstable, it had its own interested visitors.

In other words, it should be said that the people and the short film community, who are mostly the young generation of Iranian filmmakers and in a way the future generation of Iranian cinema, stand by their interest in cinema and art.

The glorious start of Tehran Short Film Festival

All this made me eager for the first day of the 40th edition of this festival, which is the time when the Tehran Short Film Festival matures.

On the first day of the festival, I went to Mellat Cinema Campus, a place that I still don’t think is a suitable place to hold this festival. Both in terms of the location and in terms of the facilities of the Mellat cinema complex, there are better options to choose as the host of this festival.

From the moment I decided to go to Mellat Cinema Campus, I prepared myself for the crowd difference from last year. This year, there was a general ticket sale for the works in the festival, and many interested people came to the venue by buying tickets from the iTicket website.

The crowd was felt from the moment of entering Mellat cinema and from the open area in front of the cinema door. The space in front of the cinema door was clearly better than last year, different elements, and the creation of a corridor with the atmosphere of forty years of Tehran Short Film Festival showed the passion of the festival more than ever.

The opening was a sign of the passion of the festival

Through the corridors inside this cinema complex, I reached Hall No. 9, where the opening of the festival was held. To my surprise, even though I had not arrived late, I encountered a hall that had no place to sit.

I stood next to one of the stairs in the passageway to cover the opening. Every moment, the crowd in the hall was added to the point where all the passages inside the hall were blocked.

The opening hall was crowded until the end. Among all the events, the words and items of the opening clip were played as a review of the past 39 courses, which was very interesting for the audience.

Clip of 40 years together with the short cinema of Iran and the world

During the opening, Mehdi Azarpandar made a speech that brought the approval of the people present in the hall. He considered the Tehran Short Film Festival as a living entity that cannot be indifferent to the events in Gaza and Zionist crimes.

From last year’s topics to this year’s events in the cinema!

After the opening ceremony, I went to Mellat Cinema food court, which is a suitable hangout for filmmakers and cinema people during the Tehran Short Film Festival. The discussion of popular votes is always mentioned in the circles of this hangout.

Even this space, which may have less relation to culture and art, had the atmosphere of a cinema. A space full of movie enthusiasts, all of whom were talking about the seventh art, I was faced with various issues by rotating between different tables and of course talking to those I knew; One of the filmmakers who criticized last year’s events had made a film about it and happened to participate in the festival as well.

There was also a section in the festival with the theme of the Palestinian cause, all this shows one important point, and that is a movie that is not indifferent to the events of its time.

The high reception brought the festival to an extraordinary sensation

Referring to the screening program of the festival, I chose one of the screening boxes to watch. This short film series was supposed to be screened in Hall No. 2 of the Mellat campus, among the corridors of the Mellat campus, which still has no good connection after several years. to this hall. My first encounter to enter the theater was a long queue in front of the entrance, people with tickets in hand waiting to enter the theater and waiting for a long time to enter.

Finally, after I waited for a while to enter, the hall was full and it was not possible for the rest of the audience to enter, that’s why Hall No. 5 of the Mellat Cinema Campus was added to the table as a wonderful screening hall. I went to this hall to watch selected films, a hall that There were no empty seats in the extraordinary session.

According to the opinion, the proper advertising and proper performance of public relations of the festival had led to good ticket sales and a high number of audience. Audiences from every cinema group you can think of were present at this festival.
