How far has the supply of shares of power plants reached the stock exchange?


According to Tejarat News, Mohsen Tarztaleb, CEO of the parent company specialized in thermal power, said regarding the transfer of power plants: “According to government policies, the transfer of power plants has been on the list of the Privatization Organization since last year, which has become a holding of three power plants.”

He continued: “Currently, three power plant holdings of East, West and Center have been registered and the total capacity of this power plant is 12,250 MW, so they are being accepted in the capital market to be offered in the stock market of these power plants.”

The CEO of the parent company of specialized thermal power added: According to Article 44 and the tasks performed by the system, the thermal power company, as a government agency, should hand over 80% of its production facilities to the private sector.

Tarztalab emphasized that the transfer of power plants is not related to today and yesterday and have been included in the list of the Privatization Organization since 1995.

The official said: In general, the buyer of this power plant should sell the electricity produced at a price of 50 tomans, which will eventually generate about 300 billion tomans of revenue annually from this place. From this figure, 200 billion tomans should be spent on the current affairs of the power plant, which will be a very long time for return on investment, and it will not be profitable for the private sector to buy this complex.

According to the CEO of the parent company specialized in thermal electricity, in general, the management of the transfer of power plants is in the hands of the Privatization Organization.

Tarztalab stated in the end: “For this reason, it was decided that the power plants will be transferred in the form of holding and their shares will be given to the private sector. With this procedure, only 49% of the power plants’ shares will be transferred and 51% of these shares will be owned by the government.”
