IDFA is present despite the quarantine



The Amsterdam International Documentary Festival (IDFA) announced that despite the quarantine in parts of the Netherlands, the film event will continue to be held in person.

Theater News Base: As the number of people infected with the coronavirus in the Netherlands increases and the Dutch government decides to impose a partial quarantine on Saturday night (November 22nd), the officials of the 34th Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA) issued a statement announcing all events related to the festival. The previous announcement will continue to be held in person.

Accordingly, all the events of this festival, which will be held from November 17 to 28 (November 17 to December 28), including film screenings, talks, etc., will be held with a maximum capacity of 80% of the halls and with new health and safety arrangements. .

This year, the documentary “I try not to forget” made by Pegah Ahangrani will participate in its first world screening in the short documentary section of the IDFA Festival, and “Water, Wind, Soil and Bread” directed by Mehdi Zamanpour Kiasari will also participate in the competitive youth documentary section of this event. Selected and credible in the field of documentary.

The documentary “Homework” by Abbas Kiarostami will be screened in the “Focus: Future Time” section.

Also, the two documentaries “Face Painter” made by Jafar Najafi and “Tonight’s Exercise” co-produced by Ashkan Nejati and Mehran Nematollahi are other representatives of Iranian cinema at this year’s IDFA festival, which will be screened in the “Luminous” section of this film event.

“Chehre Pardaz” will also compete for the award for the best first documentary of this year’s Amsterdam Film Festival with 11 works from different sections of the festival.
