Increased advertising in default iPhone applications

According to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gorman, Apple has been internally testing search ads in the Maps app. During this test, when a person searches for restaurants, stores or other businesses near his location, suggestions are shown to him.

According to Aetna of Mehr, Apple now has a similar advertising model in the App Store, and software developers can pay a fee to promote their product on the search page when searching for a specific topic such as matching games or photo editing. According to Gorman, advertising on AppMaps is likely to be the same, with businesses paying a fee to appear at the top of a topic-specific search list.

This Bloomberg analyst believes that Apple can offer ads in podcasts and books apps as well. This helps publishers include ads in each app or pay for their content to appear higher in search.
